Yasiin Bey & The Alchemist Form New Group, ‘Forensics’

Old school hip-hop lovers can start their 2025 with a special treat. In a post on Instagram, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) announced his official return to rap.

As part of his return, Yasiin is teaming up with legendary producer The Alchemist to form a new group – “Forensics.”

The newly formed super duo, Forensics, will drop a new album in 2025. Details surrounding the forthcoming release are limited as the post’s caption provided limit insight.

On January 25, 2025, the pair will host a private world premiere party at the Le Trianon theater in Paris. Their attendees will be treated to a preview of Yasiin Bey and The Alchemist’s secret tracks.

The new project marks Yasiin’s first official album in nearly two decades.

His last album was 2009’s The Ecstatic. Fans of Bey have eagerly anticipated new music, and the partnership with The Alchemist promises to deliver thought-provoking bars and killer production.

The pair released new music in November, “Kijani”, but it is unclear whether it will feature on the project. One excited fan commented on the unofficial Youtube video, “this track gotta be on this album…i’ve been waiting too long for this to be heard in dolby digital !!”
