This is huge news for Queen Latifah!
It has been announced the rapper/singer/actor will be the 2021 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2021 BET Awards. Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, has become a cultural icon over the years.
Essence reports that Latifah has been making history throughout her career. In 1997, she was the first rapper to appear in the Super Bowl halftime show and in 2006, she became the first hip-hop artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Queen Latifah has appeared in countless movie and tv shows, such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Beauty Shop, Living Single, Set It Off, Bringing Down The House, and more.
