ABOUT LAMONDA

Lamonda began her career in the music industry as a radio personality and powerhouse program director. Her extensive background in radio programming and broadcasting spans 16 years. Lamonda developed her career programming a multitude of top-rated hip hop, R&B and urban adult contemporary radio stations in Philadelphia, New Orleans, Richmond and Connecticut, while she simultaneously honed her skills and became a top-notch on-air personality in major-markets like New York and Washington, DC.

For more than half a decade Lamonda held key roles as a member of the programming brain trust at Music Choice. This former Director of Urban & Latin Programming for Music Choice oversaw the urban and Latin video and audio content for Music Choice’s free On Demand network, its music channels, its free online music service, and its subscription service for cell phones. She developed and oversaw the creation of compelling Original music shows, in addition to managing the video and audio music programming that has made Music Choice’s urban content the network’s most popular music format. She worked closely with record labels, artists and their managers, and industry representatives to demonstrate the power of Music Choice to expose both emerging and established artists to 51 million consumers via their televisions, online, and cell phones.

Her years as a savvy ratings-winning program director, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit, inspired Lamonda to form Lamar’s Daughter, LLC which is a NY-based media consultancy dedicated to delivering content solutions & strategy for a ‘now-generation.’ You can also hear Lamonda on-air for New York’s #1 urban station WBLS.

Lamonda has received several industry awards recognizing her achievements, including NABFEME’s “Executive Power Mover of the Year” award, R&R Magazine’s “PD on the Rise”, “Gavin’s PD of the Year”, and “Billboard’s Personality of the Year.”

Servant-leadership is a huge part of the Lamonda brand. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the Abyssinian Baptist Church. She’s also a board member and Chair of the Development Committee for the Aby Fund, an organization dedicated to eradicating poverty in Ethiopia through the empowerment of coffee farmers. Lamonda volunteers to feed the homeless with Jersey Cares’ Hunger Helpers program, and she devotes her time as a leader in the “Sister Circle” women’s ministry for her church.

Lamonda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Southern California and a Master of Journalism degree from Temple University.

In her spare time she enjoys Yoga & Pilates, traveling, mentoring, being a motivational speaker, and doing anything in the sun to catch a tan!

Born in Daytona Beach, Florida but raised in Connecticut, Lamonda and her dog Bogey currently live in NJ. She believes “When you learn, teach. When you get, give.”
