The Rewind with L’Oréal Luchi keeping you informed on everything that happened in the culture this week:
Tia Mowry:
After 14 years of marriage, Tia Mowry announced she and her husband, Cory Hardict are getting a divorce due to irreconcilable differences. In a social media post, Tia shared a few thoughts but didn’t go into detail.
Fans speculate cheating; one online user commented on Cory’s page and said, “He cheated on her.” He responded, “lies.”
Common:
Common will make his Broadway debut. He’ll act in the Pulitzer Prize-winning stage play, Between Riverside and Crazy. He’s taking on a supporting role of a character named Junior, who is the son of the play’s lead character, Walter “Pops” Washington, a widowed ex-cop struggling to make ends meet. Common previously spoke on the accomplishment and said, “”This has been a dream of mine for a very long time.” Fans can see a preview performance in NYC on Nov. 30, and opening night officially kicks off on Dec. 19.
Ice Cube:
Ice Cube is determined to release a new Friday movie. In the latest update, he said he wrote two new scripts but Warner Brothers rejected them. He said quote, “they don’t believe in the culture man… I had two scripts. I wrote one; it was the sh*t. They was like, ‘Yo, we don’t want Craig and Day-Day in jail, ’cause Craig and Day-Day went to jail for selling weed before it was legal!” Ice cube and Warner brothers have been butting heads for quite some time. The Last Friday was released in 2012 and ever since Ice Cube has been pushing for a sequel.
Ime Ukoda:
Nia Long’s ex, and father of her oldest son, Massai Z. Dorsey, revealed some information about the Ime Udoka cheating scandal. The Boston Celtics head coach was accused of having an affair with a female coworker and, as a result, was suspended from his role as head coach.
Although Nia Long hasn’t spoken out directly about her fiancé, Massai claims Nia forgave Ima. He said quote, “We talk as a family, and it’s all about unconditional love, and that’s what she’s giving him.” He also said, “Ime made a mistake. Every man needs another chance. Like the Bible says, the flesh is weak. He’s not a bad guy. Hopefully, he’s learned from this.” Massai made it clear he doesn’t condone Ime’s actions but believes his position as a head coach “comes with a lot.”
A Different World:
‘A Different World’ cast reunited for the show’s 35th Anniversary: ‘The Band Got Back Together.’ They held a panel at Wilmington Public Library to celebrate the milestone. Cree Summer, Dawnn Lewis, Daryll Bell, Jasmine Guy, Charnele Brown, and Kadeem Harrison were in attendance.
