A Brooklyn Woman Shot In The Head Saved By Her Wig

It was her wig that saved her life!

Over the weekend, a Brooklyn woman was shot in the head but was protected by her wig after it absorbed the projectiles from the blow. According to police, the 21-year-old victim was on the corner of Bedford Avenue and Ross Street when a dark-colored car pulled up.

They say that the back window was lowered and showed what appeared to be a gun and started to shoot. Police described the rounds from the gun as beads that hit the Orthodox Jewish woman in her wig. The wig is worn for religious purposes.

The woman was reportedly not injured during the shooting and no suspect has been caught as of Sunday night. NBC reports that it isn’t clear if this shooting will be investigated as a hate crime. However, as of now, hate crimes are up 17% in the city this year as opposed to last year. Antisemitic hate crimes have gone up more than double.

This is a developing story. Please stay tuned for updates. We are glad to know that the woman is safe after this horrific incident.
