Alicia Keys has announced the world premiere of her upcoming musical, “Hell’s Kitchen.”
The musical is loosely based around Keys’ New York City childhood. The production is slated to run between Oct. 24 and Dec. 10, with the debut set for Nov. 19, during The Public Theater’s 2023-24 season.
Keys shared that the idea for her production has been in the works for over a decade and will also feature new music.
The pianist shared, “HELL’S KITCHEN tells the story of a 17-year-old girl chasing her New York dream, struggling to find herself, her voice, her identity! Inspired by my own personal experiences growing up in this city. This show is NY’s Finest!! It’s everything to me and it’s going to touch your SOUL!! I can’t wait for you to experience it! Mark your calendars for October 24.”
The announcement comes a month after Keys unveiled the orchestral version of “If I Ain’t Got You.”
Prior to the Hells Kitchen musical kicking off in October, Keys will be on her “Keys to the Summer” tour. The tour starts on June 28th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
The production for Hells Kitchen, a partnership with playwright Kristoffer Diaz, features hit songs from Keys, choreography by Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown and direction by Michael Greif.
