Aretha Franklin has battled a number of health issues over the years, but she’s always bounced back. Last night, reports surfaced noting the legendary singer is “gravely ill” in a Detroit hospital.
According to Showbiz 411, a blog to first address the story, says the family is asking for “prayers and privacy.”
Franklin was first diagnosed with cancer in 2010, but refused to allow her health to keep her down. Unfortunately, her last performance was last November when she performed at the Elton John AIDS Foundation fundraiser in New York. Soon after, the soulstress canceled a number of performances under “doctor’s orders.”
It’s said that Franklin is saying her final goodbyes to friends and family in the city she called home growing.
