Aretha Franklin’s long-awaited documentary, Amazing Grace, made its debut at the DOC NYC Festival last night (Nov. 13), and the New York Post says the film is just that: “amazing.”
According to Page Six, Rev. Al Sharpton introduced the film inside Manhattan’s SVA Theater, “delivering a prayer and explaining how he would always tell Franklin that 1972’s ‘Amazing Grace’ was his favorite album of hers.”
Various stars attended the documentary premiere including Chris Rock and his girlfriend, actress Megalyn Echikunwoke (Night School, House of Lies, 90210).
The doc shows off the Queen of Soul’s astounding vocals as she sings “Never Grow Old,” and gives a glimpse of the legendary Mick Jagger “dancing and clapping” as Franklin sings “Climbing Higher Mountains.”
Aretha Franklin’s Amazing Grace will run at SoHo’s Film Forum Dec. 7 – Dec. 13.
