Although Aretha Franklin passed away four months ago, the IRS says her tax debt lives on.

According to TMZ, the Internal Revenue Service claims the Queen of Soul owes more than $6.3 million in back taxes and an additional $1.5 million in penalties stemming from 2012 to 2018.

David Bennett, the attorney of Franklin’s Estate, says Aretha paid off the majority of her debt before she died, and “The Estate is diligently working to resolve any remaining issues.”

While Mr. Bennett is working to clear Aretha’s name and tax issue, one of her lawyers filed against the Estate in October, demanding $54,000 in unpaid fees dating back six years.
