Black Business Month: Black And Mobile – The First Black Owned Food Delivery Service

August is National Black Business Month and for the entire month, WBLS will be spotlighting some Black-owned businesses that you should follow!

Black And Mobile is the first Black-owned food delivery service that will deliver from only Black-owned restaurants.

The company was founded by 26-year-old, David Cabello and his twin brother, Aaron, who came up with the idea in 2017 during the time when he was delivering for other food services such as Postmates, Uber Eats, and Caviar.

“Prior to launching Black and Mobile, I had the mindset that I was going to help Black-owned businesses anyway that I could,” David said. “My twin brother and I, both dropped out of college with that mission in mind. We  began working at a bookstore and then began delivering food to make some extra money to fund our own business.”

The business officially launched in 2019, in their hometown of Philadelphia. Cabello runs the business with his brother and their mother.

Not only was it imperative for David to bring jobs to the Black community, but he also wanted to partner with Black-owned restaurants because it was difficult for him to find any on the other food service apps.

“While delivering food for these services, I realized that we were picking up from any Black restaurants and it showed me how underrepresented they are.”

Cabello’s business is a focal point to help showcase Black restaurants as well as pour money back into the Black community. He wants to be able to make a change in the unemployment rate as well by exposing more people to more opportunities.
