Updated 12:19 PM – Authorities say evidence in Freeda’s death suggests she committed suicide.

TMZ reports a spokesperson for the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office says that “early indications” show death by asphyxiation. And because there is still no evidence of foul play, “all signs point to a hanging.”

Former heavyweight champion George Foreman is mourning the loss of his daughter Freeda George Foreman after she was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon (Mar. 9).

TMZ broke the story, reporting that the 42-year-old boxing champ, who followed in her father’s footsteps, was found in her Houston, T.X. home by a family member. The cause of death has yet to be announced, but authorities have ruled out possibilities of a suicide and don’t suspect any foul play.

Freeda threw her first professional punches in 2000 as a middleweight then proceeded to win her next five matches in the ring (including her first fight). She put her gloves down a year later after losing her sixth fight, and, according to the LA Times, getting a check from her dad to quit.

The now late boxer’s Instagram bio proves she was always destined for more than the ring: “Aside from my love of family, being a good mother, wife, and friend, I aspire to make a positive difference in our American Criminal Justice System.”
