BREAKING: 19 Children Killed In Mass Shooting In Texas

Update 9:14 PM ET – The death toll has risen to 19 kids, and two adults. ABC says Ramos killed his grandmother before entering the school. Reuters reports he acted alone. The outlet also says the children ranged in age from 7 to 10. The motive for the tragic massacre is not immediately known.

This is just horrific. 14 children and one teacher were fatally shot at Texas elementary school on Tuesday, May 24th.

Texas Governor, Greg Abbott revealed that the shooter was 18-year-old Salvador Ramos. He also stated that the gunman was killed by the police who reported to the scene at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.

“He shot and killed horrifically and incomprehensibly 14 students and killed a teacher,” Abbott said.

Abbott continued, “When parents drop their kids off at school, they have every expectation to know that they’re going to be able to pick their child up when that school day ends. And there are families who are in mourning right now. The state of Texas is in mourning with them for the reality that these parents are not going to be able to pick up their parents.”

The Daily News reported that the school went into lockdown at 11:43 this morning after it was reported of an active shooter at the school. Two police officers suffered non-life threatening injuries in the shootout with Ramos.

A lot of the victims were taken to Uvalde Memorial Hospital, while two of them were airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio due to the seriousness of their injuries.

Parents were informed to pick up their children around 2 pm after being transported to the Sgt. Willie Deleon Civic Center.

It was reported the suspect also shot his grandmother before going inside the school. There is no word of her condition at the moment.

This is a developing story and we will keep you posted with updates. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims.
