A day of worship turned into a horror scene when a gunman in Pittsburgh decided he was going to shoot up Tree of Life Congregation in Squirrel Hill. This area of Pittsburgh is the “hub of their Jewish community,” reported on CBS.
Saturday morning (Oct. 27), a deranged man who seemed to have had it out for the people at the synagogue he was at, screamed “all Jews must die,” before going on a killing spree., according to a report. The article also confirms that eight people are dead and the shooter is in police custody. Three officers were also shot in the attack and the number of people injured is unknown as of yet.
Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto advised residents of the community to stay inside until further notice. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf said that this shooting is an “absolute tragedy.” He also said,
“We must all pray and hope for no more loss of life,” Wolf said. “But we have been saying “this one is too many” for far too long. Dangerous weapons are putting our citizens in harm’s way,” reported on CBS.
The story is still developing and police have limited information as of right now. Our hearts and prayers are with the families.
