This is a shock that New England Patriots fans did not see coming.
It has been reported that earlier today that Cam Newton was officially released from the Patriots while in the pre-season. Newton joined the team in 2020 after coming from the Carolina Panthers.
Newton’s dismissal comes after the NFL required that the teams size down their rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31st. It has also been reported that Newton had missed practice due to a “COVID-19 misunderstanding”.
