Chaka Khan talks about being sampled on Kanye West’s “Through The Wire” which was released nearly two decades ago.
During a recent interview, the singer was asked if she heard from West after she was sampled on his song. “I’m not looking to hear from Kanye, either,” she said.
“No, I’ve not heard from him and I’m not looking to hear from him. That’s what he did. That’s what he did with his music. I was upset about sounding like a chipmunk, ‘cause he didn’t put that when he asked [if] he could use my, sample my song. He didn’t mention that he was gonna speed it up three times its normal speed.”
She went on to say that during the time he was writing the song, she believes that she has rejected the request. This isn’t the first time that Chaka Khan spoke about her disapproval of being sampled on the song calling it insulting and stupid.
