Actor and SNL alum Chris Redd is finally speaking out after being violently attacked in New York City.

The incident took place outside of the Comedy Cellar on October 26th. He would later be rushed to Bellevue Hospital after being punched in the face and suffering from three fractures.

The 37-year-old reveals that he has no idea as to why the attack happened and doesn’t believe that he was going to be mugged.

“This man hit me in the face with something metal. I thought it was knuckles because of the way it cut my nose to the bone,” he said. At first he didn’t think anything of the punch until he saw how much he was bleeding from his face.

“A fist don’t normally do all of that at one time,” Redd said. “So it was safe to assume I was hit with something… But the dude just hit me and ran off. I fell down so fast. I didn’t even know I fell until I looked at the surveillance footage.”

He recalled that a lot of blood was pouring out of his face, “it wasn’t really about the pain at that point, it was just so much blood. It wasn’t a good idea to chase him down the street with blood gushing out of my face.”

Reports say that Redd was at the Comedy Cellar to perform a stand-up set. “If we could have stopped the bleeding, I would have went on stage,” he said. “I was like, I can’t wait to talk about this sh**. And I’m glad I waited, but that was my first thought.”

We’re keeping Chris Redd in our thoughts and prayers as he recovers. The man who assaulted him has not been caught yet.
