Chris Rock Seemingly Rejects Will Smith’s Apology

Chris Rock isn’t accepting Will Smith’s apology after publicly humiliating him during the Oscars.

Rock reportedly addressed Smith’s apology during a performance with Dave Chappelle at London’s O2 Arena. “F*** your hostage video,” Rock said in a joke. “Yes, that s*** hurt. He played Ali. I can’t even play Floyd Mayweather.”

During the show, Chappelle stated that Smith slapping Rock has ruined his positive image. “Will did the impression of a perfect person for 30 years, and he ripped his mask off and showed us he was as ugly as the rest of us,” he said to the crowd.

He continued, “Whatever the consequences are… I hope he doesn’t put his mask back on again and lets his real face breathe. I see myself in both men. This isn’t the first time that Chris Rock has joked about being slapped.

“Everybody is trying to be a f***ing victim. If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims. Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith… I went to work the next day, I got kids,” the comedian said. He added, “Anyone who says word hurt has never been punched in the face.

In July, Will Smith came back to social media and issued an apology to Chris Rock. “I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out,” Will said in the video. “So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

Smith continued, “There is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in the moment. There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insults.”
