Chris Rock’s Mother Breaks Her Silence On Will Smith’s Slap At The Oscars

Rose Rock, the mother of Chris Rock, is finally giving her thoughts on her son being slapped at the Oscars by Will Smith.

While doing an interview, Mrs. Rock shared her feelings and reaction to her son being slapped. “When he slapped Chris, he slapped all of us. He really slapped me, because when you hurt my child, you hurt me.”

She also stated that this was her first time watching the awards show from home and thought that the incident was staged until Smith began to yell “keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth.”

The author and motivational speaker added that Smith only reacted after seeing his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith’s face. “[She was] giving you the side-eye, and you went and made her day because she was mulled over laughing when it happened.”

On March 27th, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars after he made a joke about Jada’s bald head. She revealed in 2018 that she lost her hair due to alopecia.

Will Smith would go on to win the award for Best Actor for his role in King Richard. “No one heard his speech. No one was able to just be in the moment because everyone was sitting there like ‘what just happened?”, Rose Rock said.

She also said that Will’s apology on social media was disingenuous and said that Smith’s people wrote the statement for him.
