Ciara has found out that she’s not the only star in her family. She posted a clip from a new episode of PBS’ Finding Your Roots on her Instagram sharing that she is related to baseball star, Derek Jeter.
“The moment I learned @DerekJeter was my cousin! Crazy! Thank you @drhenrylouisgates for such an incredible experience! This was a dream come true to learn about my family genealogy!” she wrote in the caption.
Singer and host of the show, Dr Henry Louis Gates Jr, revealed the information to her in the clip she posted.
“Yeah, that is your DNA cousin,” Gates said about Jeter.
“You are kidding me! Derek Jeter!,” Ciara gushed.
“Ladies and gentlemen, she is looking at former New York Yankee Derek Jeter,” the Gates said to the camera.
Finding Your Roots is on it’s 10th season and has had a slew of celebrity guests who have uncovered their own family trees. Names like Questlove Pharrell Williams, Don Lemon, Angela Bassett, Lena Waithe and more have joined the series.
