The post let his fans know about where he is on his journey to recovery. “Sinbad appreciates all the love and support you have shown him over the last two years,” the post read. “The family has created a site where you can keep up to date with his progress and also provide an avenue for those who wish to give.”

According to his recovery website, a blood clot traveled from his heart to his brain in October of 2020 that triggered an ischemic stroke. After an immediate surgery, the “prognosis was very promising.” He was able to leave the hospital in July 2021, after nearly nine months.

Following his stroke, the comedian had to undergo a thrombectomy to remove the clot and restore normal blood flow to his brain. However, the next day he had a second blood clot, about half the size of the first, and had to have the same surgery done again.

As well as the stroke and surgery, his brain had also swollen leading doctors to perform a craniotomy to relieve pressure and reduce the swelling. Sinbad then returned to the Neuro-ICU in a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator for the next several month before he was cleared for therapy.

His recovery website tracks how well he is doing. In a statement from the comedian on the site, he shares his hope to walk once more, “I am not done. I will not stop fighting until I can walk across the stage again.’ And neither will we.”

Our prayers our with Sinbad and his family as he recovers.
