Derek Chauvin’s Request For A New Trial Has Been Denied

Derek Chauvin will not be getting another trial.

It has been reported that the judge has denied the former Minneapolis police officer’s motion for another trial just hours before his sentencing.

Peter Cahill, the Hennepin County District Court judge, has ruled that Chauvin “failed to demonstrate… the Court abused its discretion or committed error such that Defendant was deprived of the constitutional right to a fair trial.”

Judge Cahill also ruled that Chauvin failed to demonstrate prosecutorial or juror misconduct.

Derek Chauvin can be sentenced to 30 years in prison. We will keep you posted when the sentencing takes place.
