Dionne Warwick Gets Mistaken For Gladys Knight And Responds

Social Media was in an uproar during the U.S.Open when the announcer mistook Dionne Warwick for Gladys Knight.

During Serena Williams’ match, the ESPN T.V. announcers Chanda Rubin and Mary Carillo were calling out the celebrities that were in attendance. “Got some more stars,” Chandra said. Mary chimes in and called Warwick, Gladys Knight which was repeated by Chanda.

She would later go on her social media to explain the mishap. “Too bad I was initially looking at the court (where Auntie Gladys was in the stands) and not our program monitor that showed Ms. Dionne… mistake was immediately corrected.”

Dionne Warwick would respond to the mistake on her Twitter and say, “Hi, I’m Gladys Knight… and instead of taking that midnight train to Georgia, I won’t walk on by but will say a little prayer for you.”

Social media fans also voiced their opinions about the mixup see what they had to say below.

However, Gladys Knight did attend the U.S. Open match as well. We also reported that actress Laverne Cox was mistaken for Beyoncé during the same match.
