Dwayne Wade deserves a father of the year award!
The former NBA star made a post online about his daughter, Zaya Wade, for her 14th birthday. In the caption, Dwayne talked about how much he loves and supports his daughter. He said,
“I’m obsessed with your happiness!! Happy 14th Birthday @zayawade.” Take a look:
In 2020, Dwyane made an appearance on The Ellen Show and revealed his daughter’s truth. Zaya was born a male, Zion, but when she was 12-years-old, she came out as transgender.
Dwayne said he showers his child with love during the show and will refer to her as Zaya as she asked. Zaya received support from her family and superstars like Cardi B.
People like B2K’s J-Boog and Boosie had issues about it and voiced their opinion publicly. J-Boog called Zaya’s interview with Michelle Obama “demonic,” and Boosie was against a 12-year-old being a transgender person.
Earlier this year, Dwyane “thanked” Boosie and J-Boog for their negative comments because it promoted essential conversations that needed to happen. He said, “So I thank everybody for even hating and starting those conversations because those conversations are starting other conversations that we need to have. And that’s happening out there.”
June is also Pride month!
