On Sunday night in Oakland, California, a deadly stabbing took place leaving 18 year-old Nia Wilson dead.
According to reports Nia Wilson and her sister 26 year-old Lahtifa Wilson were on their way home after celebrating the birthday of Wilson’s late boyfriend who drowned two years ago in a lake.
27 year-old John Lee Cowell is the alleged murder suspect who unexpectedly attacked both of these Black woman killing 18 year-old Nia Wilson.
Nia’s godfather made a statement to the public: “They didn’t ask to get cut or stabbed. Those are baby girls. Those are our children. We need the community to stand down right now. I’m at fear right now. We don’t know if this was racist, if this was random, but we are asking the community to stand down.“
Lahtifa Wilson is currently in stable condition.
Murderer, John Lee Cowell is still on the loose.
A vigil will take place at the MacArthur BART station today from 4-7pm.
