Last week Friday, our very own Kool DJ Red Alert was on the latest episode of Drink Champs.
During the episode, N.O.R.E., DJ EFN, and Red spoke about his storied career, the music rivalries, and he recently celebrate 45 years of DJing and 38 years since being on the radio.
While watching this interview, there were a lot of gems that were dropped, lessons that were learned, and a lot of facts that you probably didn’t know about the legendary DJ.
Here are five facts that we’ve found out about Kool DJ Red Alert.
- Kool DJ Red Alert discovered Fat Joe during his performance at the Apollo. Red asked The Bronx rapper to do a promo for him to play for his radio.
- Red Alert broke UFTO’s record “Roxanne, Roxanne” on the radio.
- Red Alert has been at all four main stations in New York City throughout his career.
- Red reveals that he was hurt that DJ Enuff replaced him on the radio. He also said that he was upset that Enuff didn’t see that he was being used “as a pawn” to move him out.
- Kool DJ Red Alert is the most featured cameo DJ in music videos. He used it as a way to build his brand and more.
