Gabrielle Union caused quite the frenzy last week on the topic of splitting household bills, but in her latest role, finding love is the main and only subject. The Netflix romcom, The Perfect Find, features Union alongside co-star Keith Powers who plays her young love interest. The film was directed by Numa Perrier (Jezebel, Unprisoned).
Based on a 2016 novel, the film features Aisha Hinds, D.B. Woodside, Janet Hubert, La La Anthony and Gina Torres.
Synopsis
The theme of film is risking your career for love. Union who plays the character, Jenna Jones, falls for a charming, much younger coworker, Eric (Keith Powers) — who happens to be her boss’s son. As sparks fly, Jenna must decide if she’ll risk it all on a secret romance.
Perrier discussed why she chose this storyline and how it relates to her. “Jenna is going through a work and love upheaval and trying to figure out her next chapter, and I was literally going through the exact same thing,” she noted. “I felt like I was her in a way. I really related to the idea of trying to figure out what your next step is when you feel broken, you’re trying to put yourself back together. And then I really wanted to make a great classic, amazing rom-com.”

The Perfect Find will stream on Netflix beginning June 23.
