General Hospital star Jackie Zeman has passed away at 70 years old.

Zeman played the role of nurse Bobbie Spencer on the hit soap opera for 45 years since her debut in 1977. She reportedly passed away after a short battle with cancer. The show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini posted the sad news on Twitter.

“On behalf of our General Hospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Jackie Zeman,” he wrote. “Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work.”

Valentini added, “Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew. We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends, and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey. #GH.”

The official Twitter account for General Hospital also released a statement about Zeman. See the post below.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Jackie Zeman during this time.
