R&B singer H.E.R is getting ready to add actor to her already long resume.
It has been confirmed that she will be making her debut in the remake of the hit, The Color Purple. H.E.R. will play the role of Squeak, which was originally played by Rae Dawn Chong, in the 1985 film.
As of now, the film is set to be released on December 20,2023. The film will be directed by Black Is King filmmaker Blitz Bazawule from a screenplay written by Marcus Gardley.
There is no word on who else will star in this movie but the casting for the film is still in the beginning stages.
The original film was directed by Steven Spielberg and it starred Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover, and more.
