It has been reported that Haitian President Jovenel Moise was assassinated in his home early Wednesday morning by gunmen leaving his wife wounded. The news was confirmed by Claude Joseph, the interim prime minister, he says:"The police and military were in control of security in Haiti, where a history of dictatorship and political upheaval has long stymied the consolidation of democratic rule."At the moment authorities closed the international airport and declared a "state of siege." President Moise has been ruling the country for more than a year after the country failed to hold elections. In recent months, he was demanded to step down.According to Alex Dupuy, a Haiti-born sociologist, " Joseph is likely to lead Haiti for now, though that could change in a nation where constitutional provisions have been erratically observed. The best scenario would be for the acting prime. minister and opposition parties to come together and hold elections."He adds: 'But in Haiti, nothing can be taken for granted. It depends how the current balance of forces in Haiti plays out."For more updates: CNNOur thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quHp2QC7wPM
