Jacob Blake Files Lawsuit Against Kenosha Police Officer Who Shot Him

Jacob Blake Jr. is fighting to get justice for himself.

Blake has filed a civil lawsuit against Rusten Sheskey, the Kenosha police officer who used excessive force to detain him as he was trying to get back in his car during a domestic dispute.

According to reports, the 18-page lawsuit includes pictures of Officer Sheskey firing his gun at Blake. The lawsuit states, that “the reason for the photos is to show that the officer’s actions were undertaken with malice, willfulness, and reckless indifference to the rights of Blake.”

It also states that Blake’s children were put in danger because of Sheskey’s actions because they were in the car during the shooting.  The shooting of Blake happened just three months after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the hands of the police.

After the shooting, many protestors demanded that Sheskey and the two other officers involved be terminated and charged with shooting Blake. Authorities did not bring any charges against Sheskey, claiming that he was defending himself in the situation.
