Actress Jasmine Davis will not be in the upcoming season of The Chi.
She took to her social media to officially announce her departure. “Due to many inquiries I’m officially announcing, I will not be in season 5 of @shothechi and I will no longer be part of #thechi/ #disneyproduction,” Davis wrote.
She added, “Sending a BIG THANKS to all of my family and supporters/fans who have embraced me along this journey.”

Davis’ announcement who is a trans actress, comes after Disney execs issued a “soft” response to Florida’s anti-LGBTQIA+ legislature.
Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis has made it illegal for public school classrooms from kindergarten to third grade to teach about sexuality.
People who object to the bill believe that it “unnecessarily marginalizes transgender and LGBTQIA+ youth.” Since then, Disney has said that they plan on fighting the regressive legislation.
The Chi is part of 20th Television which is also part of Disney Studios. The fifth season is set to premiere in June.
