John Singleton Passes Away At the Age of 51

Oscar nominated director and writer John Singleton passed away after suffering a stroke on April 17th. Fox News has confirmed the news.

According to a family member, the 51-year-old “passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends.”

“We want to thank the amazing doctors at Cedars-Sinai Hospital for their expert care and kindness and we again want thank all of John’s fans, friends and colleagues for all of the love and support they showed him during this difficult time,” the statement continued.

It was revealed on Monday that he was on life support, however the Singleton’s family announced that it made the “agonizing decision” to remove Singleton from life support.

His family also added:

“John Singleton is a prolific, ground-breaking director who changed the game and opened doors in Hollywood, a world that was just a few miles away, yet worlds away, from the neighborhood in which he grew up,” the earlier statement said.

He is best known for “Boyz N the Hood,” “Poetic Justice,” “Baby Boy,” remake of the action film “Shaft” and more!

Singleton is survived by his mother, Sheila, his father, Danny and his six children.
