Jordan Peele Sets Date For Highly Anticipated Fourth Film

The creator of movies like Nope and Get Out, is back and ready to give fans his fourth film. Jordan Peele has set a date for his next movie and there’s some competition already brewing.

Universal Pictures, which released the director’s prior movies, has added an “Untitled Fourth Film Directed by Jordan Peele” to its release calendar. The film is set to open in theaters nationwide, on Christmas day in 2024.

The Christmas 2024 date is a hot commodity in the film industry. The merry holiday will also see the premiere of films like Avatar 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Recently, the film adaptation of Broadway’s Wicked switched its Christmas timeframe to Thanksgiving. The film will also be released by Universal.

In the announcement of the new film, Universal also scheduled an untitled Monkeypaw film (Peele’s production company) to release on Sept. 27, 2024.

Jordan Peele’s Box Office Successes

Peele’s feature directorial debut, Get Out, was released by Universal in 2017. It starred actor, Daniel Kaluuya as well as LaKeith Stanfield and Lil Rel Howry. It grossed over $255 million with a budget of $4.5 million. Peele received an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay with the film with additional nominations for Best Picture, Director and Actor.

His follow-up movie, 2019’s thriller Us, generated $255 million worldwide with a $20 million budget. The thriller featured Lupita Nyongo, Winston Duke and Yahya Mateen-Abdul. Although the movie did receive the same accolades as Peele’s freshman film but did garner pop culture fame. Many Halloween celebrations dress up as “the Tethered” each year.

Peele’s sci-fi movie Nope opened to $44.3 million and grossed $123.2M domestic, $171.2M worldwide. Kaluuya came to join Peele once more on this project and also starred Keke Palmer. The film did not receive any Oscar nominations but was still praised by viewers and critics alike. Peele’s earlier films, if not more so. Universal Studios Hollywood opened a section of the Backlot Studio Tour devoted to the movie. The New York Times’ A.O. Scott named “Nope” the best movie of 2022.
