Are you ready for a new album from R&B singer, K. Michelle? The singer announced, via her Instagram, she will be releasing a new project titled All Monsters Are Human. She gave fans a taste of what they can expect from the upcoming album, with her single “The Rain.”
The former Love and Hip-Hop reality star released the song on Friday, October 25th, and it has already reached #1 on the R&B charts.
The song samples the 1988 classic New Edition song, “Can You Stand The Rain.” *K. Michelle teamed up with award-winning producer Jazzy Pha for the record, and similar to the New Edition song, she uses a rainstorm to describe how she’s feeling but her double entendre is a little spicier:
You gon’ get soaked, so bring a raincoat
When we finish you gone see a rainbow (Oh)
Come swim in my waters like a sailboat
You just making love to me like Nemo
She shared an emotional message via her Instagram, “I JUST LOOKED Y’all are STILL MAKING IT RAIN AT #1. I love you truly. All I ever wanna do is sing songs to y’all. I’ve grown and learned to fight my battles wisely not ALL of them. Just shut up mind ya business K and give people good music. You don’t have to like me but unless your a hater you have to respect my craft that good gave me. Hope I don’t disappoint the people who are rooting for me with this album. Just want it perfect and have everybody crying and healed by the last song. Please God these are the desires of heart.”
The sexy and sultry ballad is perfect for a night in. The single is reminiscent of her 2014 top-charting hit single, “VSOP.”
