During the third day of the nomination hearing of Supreme Court Justice nominee Kentaji Brown Jackson, Sen. Cory Booker gave a speech on racial progress that moved Jackson to tears. Booker, who also became emotional while speaking with Jackson, commended her on how well she carried and conducted herself during the difficult line of questioning based on the handling of child pornography cases, her views on anti-racism in schools, and more. “You faced insults here that were shocking to me,” Booker said while speaking to Jackson directly. He continued, “Nobody’s taking this away from me. Republicans are gonna accuse you of this and that. But don’t worry, my sister. Don’t worry. God has got you. And how do I know that? Because you’re here, and I know what it’s taken for you to sit in that seat.” Kentaji Brown Jackson is the first Black woman to be nominated to become a Supreme Court Justice and the New Jersey Senator went on to praise her for overcoming a lot of barriers throughout her career for being able to sit in the seat that she is in during the hearing. He would add, “I want to tell you, when I look at you, this is why I get emotional. I’m sorry, you’re a person that is so much more than your race and gender. You’re a Christian. You’re a mom. It’s hard for me not to look at you and not see my mom. I see my ancestors and yours.” Booker would conclude with, “You have earned this spot. You are worthy. You are a great American.” https://twitter.com/TrumpsTaxes/status/1506757335909388291?s=20&t=eR2A1659WtjMzkMGYDS1dQ
