Fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons, announced she has plans to relaunch the popular clothing brand. Almost 20 years since Baby Phat was created, Simmons took to social media to let fans know she purchased the brand back from an unknown company.
Baby Phat was an extension of the Phat Farm brand, which was created by her ex-husband Russell Simmons. Kimora served as the creative director of Baby Phat from the years of 2000-2010. The brand was worn by many celebrities during its peak. “Baby Phat was one of Phat Fashions’ most profitable brands with a wide variety of product categories and sales in excess of $1 billion.”
Reportedly, Kimora has plans to relaunch the brand this spring. The brand will now appeal to millennials, and will be “mainstream sportswear.” It will also have a “retro” feel to it.
