Little Richard will finally have his legacy displayed on the big screen.

According to The Root, the film Little Richard: I Am Everything will be released on April 21st in theaters and on digital platforms.

It will feature archival footage of the Rock and Roll icon as well as interviews with his family, fellow musicians, scholars, and more.

The movie will also focus on his impact on the LGBTQ+ community, the struggles he dealt with not being able to be his true self.

Lisa Cortés, the director of the film, said in the statement, “What I love is that in the mid-1950s he was saying he was a king. He was claiming a space for him that was denied for most Black people.”

She continued, “It’s a time of Emmett Till’s murder. And Little Richard shows up at the same time declaring himself in a world that can be oftentimes dangerous for non-normative people.”
