Wasalu Jaco, better known as Lupe Fiasco, has been chosen to be a Saybrook Fellow at Yale University.

According to the Saybook College website, "the fellowship is intended in part to provide a meeting ground for scholars from various disciplines and to encourage discussion among them."

For the past year, Jaco has balanced being a scholar and a Grammy Award-winning rapper. In July 2022, Jaco officially started his fellowship as a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as part of their MLK Visiting Professor Program. AT MIT, Jaco engages with the campus community through class visits and by teaching a special subjects course on rap.

Now as the MIT semester comes to an end, Fiasco is preparing for his new Yale fellowship. "Proud to announce I’ve been chosen to be a Saybrook Fellow at my OTHER favorite school in the whole wide world outside of MIT… Yale,” he shared on Twitter. “Shout out to [Yale’s Saybrook College dean] Tom Near for nominating me to a place where against all odds two Chicagoans found a home in the Ivy League.”
