Congratulations are in order for actor/singer Marques Houston and his wife Miya. The couple welcomed their first child, Zara together.
In an exclusive interview, Houston shared how they came up with their daughter’s name. “Miya chose the name Zara because she just felt like it was exotic. There was no special reason.”
He added, “She just wanted our girl to have a memorable name that wasn’t the average name. It still feels surreal, like, it hasn’t set in yet that we are actually not just babysitting one of our friends’ kids. But not getting any sleep definitely reminds us that we are now parents.”

Both Marques and Miya kept the pregnancy private and only recently chose to share the maternity photos.
In 2020, they made headlines after it was announced that Houston was engaged to Miya, who is 20 younger than him.
“Miya and I didn’t start until she was an adult. We fell in love and got engaged in March of 2019,” he said while addressing the rumors last June.
He continued, “My dad Michael loves her, and the people I am closet to all love her as well. Most importantly we have Jehovah’s blessing.”
They were later married in August of 2020.
