It’s been nearly two decades since the 90s sitcom Martin went off the air.
In a very transparent interview, Martin Lawrence opens up about why the show came to an end. He revealed that “he left Martin after his co-star, Tisha Campbell, accused him of abuse and sexual harassment.”
Tisha and Martin reunited for the first in 20 years following the controversial sexual harassment. In 1997, Tisha abruptly quit the show after accusing her castmate of “obsessive physical and emotional abuse.
“repeated and escalating sexual harassment, sexual battery, and violent threats.”
According to People Magazine:
Producers sued Tisha for quitting the show and she countersued with accusations against Martin. The parties reached an out-of-court settlement and Tisha agreed to return to the show on the condition that she be allowed to film scenes separate from Martin.
When Martin was recently asked about the claims, he says:
It was all a lot of bullsh*t. We don’t need to talk about something that just didn’t happen. So I just decided to walk away from the show. I just decided to end it. People said that I got canceled, but that wasn’t the case. I decided to just leave the show.”
“I love Tisha,” he continued. “I’ve seen her then and now, now and then, always with nothing but love. I have nothing but love for her, and I always have.”
