Michael Jackson Biopic To Release April 2025

Antoine Fuqua's upcoming biopic has a confirmed release date.

On Thursday (Jan 11.), Lionsgate announced that "Michael," a film about controversial pop legend Michael Jackson, is slated to release for April 18, 2025.

The biopic, set to being production on January 22nd, will star Jafar Jackson as the King of Pop. Last January, Jaafar Jackson, the 27-year old nephew of Michael Jackson, landed the title role. The singer and songwriter is the son of former Jackson 5 member and solo act Jermaine Jackson. Jaafar has been singing and dancing since age 12 and showcased himself singing tunes from Sam Cooke to Marvin Gaye, along with original.

Per a description provided by Lionsgate, “Michael” will “bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop. The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale — from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances. As never before, audiences will experience an inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.”
