Mo’Nique Lands First Ever Original Standup Special For Netflix

Mo’Nique is finally heading to Netflix!

After a long three-year legal battle, the actress and the streaming service were able to come to a settlement last month. If you remember, Mo’Nique was suing Netflix for racial and gender bias after she was offered what she called a “lowball” offer for a standup special in 2017.

I had a choice to make: I could accept what I felt was pay discrimination or I could stand up for those who came before me and those who will come after me,” she said in 2019 after filing a lawsuit.

It has recently been announced the comedienne will have a new movie and an original standup special that will be exclusively on Netflix. According to Netflix, Mo’Nique will film her standup special in Atlanta.

She will also be starring in Lee Daniels’ film, The Deliverance. This is the first time that Daniels and Mo’Nique have reunited to work together since 2009’s Precious.
