Ne-Yo Objects To Crystal Smith’s Request For Alimony

Things are quickly taking an ugly turn for Ne-Yo and his estranged wife, Crystal Smith.

Reports state that in the court documents, Ne-Yo wants joint custody of the three children he shares with Crystal. It also says that he agreed that his marriage is “irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation.”

However, the “Lazy Love” singer has denied the request to pay alimony and just wants to have joint legal and physical custody stating that he is an active and loving father to his children. The documents also say, “[Ne-Yo] asserts that he is financially, physically, and emotionally capable of serving as a joint physical custodian of the parties’ three minor children alongside Crystal.”

Ne-Yo also wants exclusive use of their home in Georgia and says that “he has been solely responsible for the mortgage and maintenance of this property since the date of purchase.” He claims that throughout the course of their marriage, he purchases three properties and kept up with maintenance by himself.

Crystal Smith filed for divorce on August 1st in Georgia after being married for six years. This filing comes after rumors began to circulate that Ne-Yo was unfaithful in his marriage and allegedly fathered a child with another woman.

Smith claims that since she separated from the singer she has been taking care of their three children and is looking to gain primary physical custody, joint legal custody, and more. In a petition written on her behalf, Smith believes that she “is entitled to a divorce from Ne-Yo upon the ground that the marriage is irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation… Ne-Yo has committed the act of adultery.”

She has also demanded spousal support because she has relied on Ne-Yo’s income to pay the bills due to them agreeing that she wouldn’t work.
