Nicki Minaj continues her promo press run in New York. During her interview with Genius, she addressed her beef with Lil Kim. When she was asked about the female rappers in the industry that came before her, she says:, “So, in no way shape or form do I not think it’s a good thing to open doors, because doors were opened for me. And when I was on the Come up DVDs, if you play my interviews, I didn’t only fame Foxy. In all my interviews, I named several females.”
Minaj also went on to address her past beef with Lil Kim, stating that she did what she had to do in order to feed her family.
“But they don’t tell you that story about me! They only have one narrative! Someone got at me! A veteran got at me, and I hit them with “Roman’s Revenge” and kept going! What was I supposed to do? Not feed my fucking family? You never gonna make me not feed my fucking family. So, I did what I had to f*cking do!”
She also admits to paying homage when her career first kicked off.
“Prior to that, I was bigging them up over and over and over. Do I have to pull up the fuckin’ interviews?! Do I have to pull up the AllHipHop.com questionnaire when they asked me my top 5 and 4 women were listed in my top 5! Remember, there was line that said Kim, Foxy, and Remy. Nobody remembers that!”
