It was recently reported that Aretha Franklin owed over $8 million in back taxes but Michigan police has found the reason behind it. According to law enforcement, The Queen of Soul’s assets were stolen from her before she passed away.
It’s not clear on how much has been taken from Franklin but according to court documents the police are searching for the person who was obtaining and using her funds inappropriately. The first report was filed last June.
Franklin’s estate is currently being audited by the IRS.
