Phaedra Parks is giving out warnings to people who may want to be on Real Housewives of Atlanta.
During a recent interview, Parks expressed that she was in a real dark place after being fired from the show in 2017. She opened up about her mental journey and the things that she did to recover from a traumatic experience.
“When I left ‘Housewives’, it was a very dark time and I went through depression and a lot of emotions because ‘Housewives’ can give you PTSD,” she said. “I think anyone that’s been on it for over four to five years will experience some PTSD because it can be very traumatic.”
She continued, “So I wanted to write a book for women- men can read it, too- that really gave a part of my testimony of just being an overcomer.”
Parks concluded with, “As you can see, God gave me double for my trouble, honey. I look younger, I feel younger and I lost nothing.”
Phaedra Parks was fired from Real Housewives of Atlanta after being on the show for seven seasons after it was revealed that she lied and accused Kandi Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker of drugging and sexually assaulting former castmate, Porsha Williams.
Phaedra also revealed that she had to battle through suicidal ideations. “Sometimes when people go through bad things, they don’t understand the power of meditation, the power of thinking positive, the power of claiming and proclaiming success, healing over their lives.”
She added, “I talk about personal stories from my life. And at the end, I give a meditation that helped me through those moments… I want to be that bridge, I want to be that encouragement for someone who doesn’t have someone to talk to. I just want people to know, even through my book, there’s nothing wrong with saying, ‘I need help,’ or, ‘I’m feeling this way’ You should be able to feel transparent to people who love you and get aid.”
Since being off of the show, Phaedra said that she has no desire to hold a peach again. “No, I don’t want to pick up a peach. If I wanted a peach, I would have a peach pie, but that’s not… no, as I’ve made it very clear, that’s not what I want to do. No. I will be yachting. Let them continue to sail away on the Titanic, OK?”
