R.Kelly Reveals He Was Unaware Of Lawsuit Awarding Six Women $10.5 Million

R. Kelly is fighting back against the lawsuit that led a judge to award six women $10.5 million.

The singer claims that he was unaware of the August 2023 ruling and said he would’ve fought against the lawsuit if he had known about it earlier. He also claims that he had made changes to his legal team because of this particular suit that went unnoticed.

According to reports, the disgraced singer and his former manager, Donnell Russell, were accused of making continuous threats to the six women to keep them from appearing in the docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly. They also threatened to take legal action agaisnt the women and the producers of the docuseries.

New court documents state that Kelly says that Russell was never his manager and believes that he should take full responsibility for the threats that were made to the women. Due to the lawsuit, Russell was sentenced to one-year in prison.

In 2022, R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he was found guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering. He will also spend another 20 years in prison for his child sex crimes charge.
