R.Kelly To Remain On Suicide Watch After 30 Year Sentencing

R.Kelly is reportedly to remain on suicide watch after he was sentenced to 30 years in prison for federal sex crimes.

The singer is currently being held at the Brooklyn Detention Center, the same facility he has sued citing “cruel and unusual punishment. His lawyers have stated that their client “is not suicidal and expressed to MDC officials that he was not suicidal and had no thoughts of harming himself or others.”

The Brooklyn U.S. Attorney’s Office filed court documents stating that the disgraced singer will remain under suicide watch for his own safety following a psychological assessment.

“R.Kelly’s current life circumstances undoubtedly bring emotional distress,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Melanie Speight said. “He is a convicted sex offender who has been sentenced to spend the next three decades in prison.”

She added that Kelly will be heading to Chicago for another criminal trial related to charges of child pornography.

We will keep you posted with updates on this matter.
