R. Kelly has been under fire since the release of Lifetime’s docu-series Surviving R. Kelly, where many of his alleged victims, and past relationships admitted to being abused by the R&B singer.
R. Kelly’s daughter Joann, and her mother, Andrea, opened up their pain and explained how they have coped with the backlash.
Andrea Kelly wanted to make it clear that there are two sides to R. Kelly :
“I don’t think people have a clear understanding that we are dealing with two different people here. There is R. Kelly the persona and then there is Robert the person.”
Joan Kelly chimed in to let the world know that she still loves her father:
“I’m very torn, at the end of the day, it’s still family, he’s still my blood. So yes, I do still love my father and that’s something I want people to understand. I never came out and said what I said to make people feel like I hate him, or I’m bashing him because that’s not it.”
