A date has been set for R. Kelly’s federal sex crime trial. The date was set today (September 4th) by a judge.

The trial is set to begin on April 26thand it will reportedly last 4 weeks. R. Kelly’s attorney, Mike Leonard, spoke on the case. “There’s two things, there is discovery and then of the discovery, what is good evidence for the government,” said Kelly’s attorney. “I think Steve and I and Chris have been remarkably, I guess, surprised that discovery to date supports our position that factually and legally there is deep flaws in the case here and there is deep flaws in the case in New York.”

Kelly is due back in September 18. According to reports, Kelly’s lawyers said at that hearing, they will ask the judge to “reconsider the no bond order.”

R. Kelly was also moved to general population, as he requested. “On Tuesday, officials transferred the singer from the Metropolitan Correctional Center’s Special Housing Unit to the downtown jail’s general population.”
